Although it looks a lot like an agave, the Leuchtenbergia Principis is actually a very slow growing cactus, native to north-central Mexico. This desert plant prefers a lot of direct sun and will do best outdoors (in the spring and summer) or in a south facing window. Water thoroughly and then allow the soil to dry completely between waterings. Allow the soil to stay almost completely dry during its winter dormancy. With the right amount of light, this unique cactus will bloom through the spring and fall.
